30 Day Journey

I am away on a much awaited vacation right now. I have been hanging with family & relaxing with friends, but one of the things I could not wait to do was begin to encourage hundreds & hundreds of folks who have just become followers of Christ. I recently had the privilege of speaking at Ichthus…an event where organizers asked if I would give the closing talk, clearly present the Gospel & invite the crowd of thousands to respond. I gladly agreed to do so.

I could sense that the Lord was going to reach many people that particular Saturday night (just 3 weeks ago!)…but I was amazed at what actually happened. At the conclusion of my talk I said, “Now if you want to give your life to Christ I want you to stand to your feet on the count of 3…” At three…thousands stood…in fact roughly 4,500 stood. So to help be clear I then said, “If you are standing because you want to give your life to Jesus Christ then raise your hand toward heaven & pray out loud with me to make that decision.” Again, approximately 4,000 people raised their hands and prayed out loud with me.  It was one of the most beautiful sights of my entire life. Purely breathtaking. The Bible says that heaven rejoices when one sinner comes home. Well, what does heaven do when thousands of ones repent of their sin and surrender their lives to Jesus…I bet they have to re-wallpaper after that party!

Well, since most of those approximately 4,000 people who made the most important decision of their life live all across the US & I will never get a chance to encourage them in person, I came up with this cool idea. I decided I would lead them on a 30 Day Journey in their new life in Christ. And I decided to do it through my Twitter. So I invited them, along with all kinds of new believers from my church (Quest Community Church), to sign on for this daily encouragement from the Word.

Tomorrow will be Day 6 & I am digging this more & more each day. It’s really an awesome thing to be going through your day & all-of-a-sudden a tweet comes to your phone or computer & it’s a pastor offering a thought & a verse prayed up just for you…to spur you on in your walk with Christ. So cool. I would have killed to get this when I first came to Jesus.
